Wagga Wagga Ingenia was our first Big 4 stop on our travels so we decided to see what all the fun was about with the Big 4 Membership Perks. Still trying to decide if we will gain value from this membership so that will be a blog for another day.
A very busy caravan park with an abundance of cabins. These appeared to have many workers staying and single overnight traveling caravans and motorhomes.
Staying a few nights gave us the chance to use the camp kitchen which was an enclosed outdoor style. A stainless steel benchtop, stove, microwave and two large refrigerators sat opposite two built in electric BBQ. We used the stove top on this occasion for a large pot of pasta that we untilised leftovers for lunch the next day. Yummm – why is it that pasta sauce is always amazing the next day?
The bathrooms were clean and well stocked and even provided a small pile of bathroom floor mats. Both Nick and I managed to get one of these on our first shower stop but unfortunately the following days showers we took were already out of stock in the clean pile.
During our stay there was 15.4mm of rain overnight which left the grassed unpowered site we were on a bit soft but there were no issues. Other campers ended up being parked in large puddles and would have had to wade out. Funnily enough we had watched an ensuite site camper park in an odd location the evening before, maneuvering way forward to the ensuite and thought this odd. However by morning he has avoided being swamped in a 8m x 3m puddle that had formed behind his van. We think he was tipped off by reception on check in and the staff knew the weather was coming.
With all the puddle drama, the handy man was out in his ute the next morning with hoses and a pump ‘’redirecting’’ some of these puddles and overflowing to an accessible drain. Very good management on the maintenance teams part and quite impressive.
The pool appeared closed during our stay and the playground was vacant. Being a “Classic’ park there were no jumping pillows or major kids activities that you often see advertised in the regular Big 4 and Integera marketing material.
We took the opportunity with this 3 night stay not only to use city wifi and catch up on some work with 4 calls in one day (phew— big day and great conversations had) but also to use the laundry facilities.
$4 for a normal warm load, $5 for a hot load. A 50 minute use of the drier got us all upto day with plenty of clean socks. ($1 for every 10 minutes). Nick did point out that my initial plan of using the washing lines was a bit squashed with the dreary weather on day 2.
The final highlight of stopping in Wagga Wagga was that Nick took the time to cook up a pork roast which gave us tasty pork and coleslaw rolls for dinner. As an added bonus we got a quick dinner sorted the next night after a day of travel. Win win.
